Aunt Mae's Diary
July 4th, 1914
[At Pleasant Lake] Got up about 8:00 and had breakfast. Helped with the dishes and made up the beds. Went out in motor boat several times during day. About 12:00 Lucy and Jeni came and we had dinner at 2:00. In after Mom, Goldie and Mr. Barnes walked out. Went calling over to Quackenbush's and Murphy's cottage. After supper, 7:00, Munson and Lena in our row boat, Lucy, Jeni, Purcell and I in another went out on lake. Got Ed Coppermoll and all three boats. Stayed together in lake and sang until ten o'clock. About 10:45 Lucy and I went over to Murphy's cottage to stay all night as our cottage was so crowded. Boys walked over with us and we found Mr. and Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Hayes (Mrs. Murphy's mother) on the porch so we sat out a little while. Lucy had pains from eating four boiled eggs. I slept well.
